If you’ve been following Fabcon Steel on Social Media, you would have seen that we have been sharing snaps and bits of information on the renovation we are working on at Jukskei Meander Shopping Centre on behalf of Iguana Projects, situated in Randburg, Johannesburg.
Walking onto the Jukskei Meander Shopping Centre construction site you are met with the sounds of drilling, digging, graders and machinery navigating around the site and the voices of passionate men and women at work. In September 2020 the shopping centre started the process of beginning the long-awaited revamp.
The supply and fabrication of the structural steel we are installing began at the end of 2020 in the Fabcon Steel factory situated in Kliprivier, just South of Johannesburg.
Fabcon Steel is supplying, fabricating and installing a total of 40 tons of structural steel in an estimated time of 3600-man hours! The sections of the projects include the structural steelwork to the Entrance Floating Canopy, Pharmacy Building Roof, Walkway Canopies as well a new External Steel Staircase.
We have passed the half-way mark on the project with the Walkway Canopies and External Steel Staircase fabricated and installed, the steel structure of the Entrance Floating Canopy is going up as we type! We still have a bit of work to do and we are running on a tight program to meet the deadline dates
Trading at the centre is expected to begin on the 22nd of March 2021, it has been a challenging experience to meet customer deadlines due to the steel shortages we are experiencing in South Africa as well as the wet weather conditions.
